Product Review: Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid Foundation...

Hi, my loves!  How's the weekend?  In a few more hours, it's Monday once again.  It sucksI know, but it's something we have to do to pay the bills! (laughs)

For today I wanna share with you this great product I've been using again lately now that our weather's a lot more confused than usual.  It's usually scorching hot in the morning until noon, but it tends to rain in the later afternoon.  Whenever I use it, I know my skin looks good, aside from being protected from the sun.  And even if it rains, my skin would still look okay and I don't have to worry about my makeup melting away.

Shiseido's Sun Protection Liquid foundation is broad-spectrum to protect against the harmful rays of the sun. The just-applied looking matte finish is non-transferring which is resistant against perspiration, water and oil.

See how harassed the packaging looks?  It's because I've been using it mostly on beach and out-of-town trips.

It comes in a blue plastic packaging that's great for careless people like me (laughs). It has a nozzle, making it more sanitary. Just make sure to fully twist the cap to close or you'll end up with foundation on the nozzle and on the cap.  It comes with a cosmetic sponge in a separate container (which I think I lost somewhere haha) but I don't really use it.  I prefer using my fingers or a stippling brush to apply it.

bare skin

after a layer of the foundation

I just underwent peeling so my skin's dry and kinda flaky. This foundation makes the flakiness visible, but not as much as when I'm using other foundations. When my skin's a lot normal, this foundation is amazing on my skin even without a primer.

Consistency is very light and runny that you'd think it can only offer a very sheer coverage, but it's not. It's pigmented enough to even out any redness or discoloration with a single layer.  And can offer medium to heavy if you apply more. I don't need to use a separate concealer, except on my under eye area, whenever I'm using this.

It dries fast, and gives a matte finish.  I don't think it really needs to be set with a powder, but I still do so because...I just got used to! (laughs)

after setting with a light powder

What I Like:
Travel-friendly packaging.
Light consistency that offers medium to heavy coverage
No need to set with a powder
No need to use a separate concealer
It's pigmented so you'll need just a small amount for the whole face.
It holds up really well through out the day. I remember wearing this while working out and my skin looks so good even with sweat and all.
No allergic reactions.  I've been using this even on days when I just had a facial the day before and my skin won't react badly.
It's waterproof and transfer resistant. I would blot my skin with oil blotting sheets or facial tissue and I won't see the foundation getting transferred. This makes this baby great for beach trips or when you'll be under the sun for a long period of time.  Now that  it tends to rain
It has SPF already so I don't need to use a separate sunblock
It looks great on photos

What I Don't Like:
Limited shade collection. I'm not sure if there are shades available for dark-skinned.  I'm using SP10, which is lighter for my skin but when I tried SP20, it's already dark for me.  I chose the SP10, and it just tones down on its own (I'm acidic) or I just set it with a darker shade of foundation.
It's expensive.  It sells for Php1800 or more for a small container.  But come to think of it, it's a sunblock + foundation in one. So it's pretty much worth the price.
If you have dry skin, this foundation will make the dryness more visible so make sure to moisturize well first.

Will I re-purchase?
Definitely.  In a month from now, I'll be travelling to a hot and humid country so this baby's gonna be one of my must-haves.  Which reminds me, I'll be leaving soon...for good. (sniff)

How I give life to my (boring) lip colors...

For today, let me share with you this one lip product that I don't think I can live without...for the next few months! I've been using it a lot these days and I always get compliments whenever I am wearing it...

Shiseido Maquillage Perfect Gloss RS702

I got this as one of the freebies during the Shiseido Makeup Workshop last year, and haven't been able to use it until early this year when I can't seem to find my Estee Lauder lip glosses anywhere.  You know me, I'm not much of an adventurous type when it comes to lipcolor, and that I only usually alternate between my MAC Peachstock and MAC Please Me. Can be a bit boring I know, but I try to give my lips a bit of Oomph by topping it with a gloss.  I started with MAC Gellee, then Estee Lauder's and now this one from Shiseido.

It comes with a spatula-like applicator which helps deposit the color on the lips easily.

The shade in RS702 is a beautiful, light pink with finely-milled shimmers.  It's not as sticky as the other glosses I've tried, it's pigmented and the color in the tube is pretty much the same color you'd see once applied on the lips.  Instead of making your lips look like you've just eaten lechon, this gloss leaves your lips looking full, sexy and supple.  I love using this on top of most of my lipsticks, which by the way are mostly nudes or MLBBs.

Staying power is pretty good, as it lasts on me for a good 2-3hrs. It's not transfer-proof, but it doesn't transfer as much as the others.  It feels light on the lips and doesn't give me allergies.

I'm not sure how much this costs, but knowing Shiseido as one luxury brand, I'm sure that it'll be in the Php1000-P1500 range.  I'll update this post once I get info as to how much it costs.

So that's how I give life to my boring lip colors, which I have quite a number in my personal makeup stash. I usually wear loud eye makeup, so going for simple, or almost-muted, but sexy pouts is what I'm after when it comes to my lips.

Happy Thursday!

The Make Up Factory Bloggers Launch...

It is no surprise that despite the number of makeup brands available in the market today, there are still a lot of women who think that one has to be an expert first to be able to put these makeup into good use.  This can still be true with some brands that tend to intimidate a number of women (and also men) with their products.  But not with Make Up Factory, a German-based company that caters to professional makeup artists, and yet brings ease of use and application of high-quality and performance makeup to the general population.

According to Diana Afable Lorenzo, Managing Director for MUF, "What sets Make Up Factory apart is their aim to give non-specialists a chance to get the same looks that can be achieved by a professional make-up artist."  The brand has a varying collections for face, eyes and lips and their strict principles of excellence has made Make Up Factory widely popular throughout Europe.

Now, Manila's cosmetic connoisseurs will finally have a chance to check out the brand in their first store located in Bonifacio High Street, exactly in the same spot that used to be Makeup Forever.

It was last month, during an intimate bloggers launch, when I first got to try and check out the products.  When I stepped into the store, I felt like I was transported into makeup land.  I was like a little kid who got lost in a land full of toys and candies.  I was all giddy and excited to do swatches, and of course, have a chit-chat with my fellow bloggers.

I wonder when I can whip up something like this for my Happy Friday Look!

A demo was also presented to us by two of the brand's makeup artists, Yuki and Mikee.

Yuki working her magic on the model..

Here's Mikee telling us how good their Brow Intensifiers are:

I wonder how this fares with my HG K-Palette Long Lasting Eyebrow...

Ohh, I want that brow powder duo!

And the finished look:

Trying out their Brow Intensifiers.. I wonder what shade I am.

Jessa and Donnarence after checking out some of the brand's lippies and eyeshadows

Tara checking out the Brow Intensifiers too!

Shen getting a makeover..she can't stop raving about the liquid foundation after.

And yes, Make Up Factory carries the entire line of ANNY!

Check out my review of probably the most beautiful shade of red polish I've ever tried here.

and here's yours truly, with one of the makeup artists I look up to, Mikee:

Did you know that Mikee was the first makeup artist I became friends with? She was the one who started my addiction with another makeup brand that she used to work with.  I'm just so glad I was able to spend some time talking to her about makeup (and life) again before I leave.

And here's my loot:

I tried to keep myself from getting anything else, but after seeing how awesome their compact powder is in setting liquid foundations, I just knew I had to get one!

To help you become a bit more familiar with the brand, check out this list of their 15 Star Products:

All products are manufactured straight from Munich, Bavaria and shipped directly to stores worldwide, thus ensuring customers that they get everything fresh from a trustworthy supplier.

I've noticed that they don't have darker shades of foundations, and that most of the shades cater to Caucasian skintones.  But I'm pretty sure they'll come up with a wider range of shades soon.  Still, it's better to check them out yourself, and who knows, you might be able to get a good match like I did.

Please follow Make Up Factory Philippines on Facebook and on Twitter (@makeupfactoryph) to get updates on their latest products and promotions.

Thanks Make Up Factory PH and ARC Public Relations for the invite and giving me a chance to play and go gaga on testing and checking out the products.
