Product Review: Revlon Absolute-C Radiance Moisture Cleansing Oil

I've been a Revlon user for a long time now, and have already tried a lot of their products. While most of my experiences with their products have been good, I haven't been able to bring myself to giving their skincare products a try. I know that aside from makeup, they also have a skincare line called the Absolute C. I swear I've been checking out this line whenever I drop by their counter, but never got the chance to try them. Our friends from Revlon might have read my mind, so they sent me this:

Radiance Moisture Cleansing Oil

A deep cleansing oil for quick and easy removal of makeup and skin impurities. Contains moisturizing ingredients to leave skin fresh, soft and radiant without stripping skin of its natural oils.

Oh yes, another makeup remover! For somebody who uses makeup everyday this is one product that will always be a staple. I use them not only on myself, but on my clients as well.

Now, let's put this stuff to test:

Full makeup on (with waterproof mascara, liner)

How to use:

1. Put 2-3 pumps on the palms of your hand

2. Gently massage onto face to melt the makeup off. Be extra gently on the eye area!

BOOH!

3. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat your face dry

and here's my squeaky-clean (scary) face free of makeup:

what i like:

packaging comes with a pump

citrusy scent

doesn't blur my vision after rinsing it off

melts even waterproof makeup!

no oily after-feel but fresh, squeaky-clean feeling

my face (despite the redness) looks brighter and refreshed

no allergies

what i dislike:

pretty expensive. sells for Php550 for a 130ml bottle

yes, if not for the price, this would be perfect for me. but come to think of it, Revlon doesn't really come cheap. and the thing is, this stuff gets the job done and i think if you use this for a long time, you'll have a fresher and brighter skin since this isn't only a makeup remover, but a first step of your skincare regimen.

So yes, Revlon has a complete line of skincare, that now I know is worth checking out.

Benefit Grand Launch...

Benefit has been available locally for months now, but it was only last week when they finally had their grand launch. And of course, that is one event I wouldn't dare to miss.

It was a night of glamour, beautiful people and amazing beauty stuff.

okay, fine...i won't dare do that again!

the winners of the Hi, San Francisco contest were also introduced during the event. these ladies got to win a lot of awesome prizes including a makeover and makeup lessons from no other than Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson of Benefit.

Benefit is available at Greenbelt 5, and if you haven't tried any of their products, I suggest you check them out. They are pretty addicting, though! I have a number of their stuff already but I still want to get more...luckily, I have been able to keep myself from doing so for quite a time now. but i just dunno until when!

Inglot Cosmetics: Eyeshadows (Review + Swatches)

I can't remember when was the first time I heard about INGLOT, but I know there are a lot of raves about this cosmetic brand made in Poland. Since then I've already wanted to get my hands on some of their stuff. So when I was told by Mr. X that we'll be going to Dubai Mall, I just got excited for I know they have a store there! (They also have one in Ibn Batuta Mall).

Of course, I have a primary target in mind....eyeshadows!

I tell you, they have a wide range of colors! I was actually drooling all the time I was in their store. I think I've swatched most of them! I spent a good 2hrs inside their store that Mr. X fell asleep on their couch! He can't believe I can spend that long in just one store! ^_^

I love their Freedom System palettes where you can select the shades you want and put them in palettes. It's like in MAC but I think MAC only has 4 and 15-slot eyeshadow palettes (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong!)

With Inglot, they have 2, 4, 6 then 10-slot palettes for their eyeshadows. They also those where you can have eyeshadows, blushes, powders, lipsticks all in one palette! I seriously almost went loco over their stuff. I wanted to get more shades but I already have a lot of eyeshadows that can last me a lifetime so I tried to hold myself back. (and I think I'm pretty successful on that, I hope!)

The covers of their palettes (some, because they still have flip top ones) have these magnets so you can just slide the top off. Also, the cover is see-through so it's easier to see the shades. Their eyeshadows are available in rounds and squares. I decided to get the square ones just because, hahaa! Some of the shades are so pigmented, while some are just blah. I was trying to remember what colors I still don't have in my collections but I think I panicked that I just started to pick colors randomly. Maybe because I was just too excited to see a lot of gorgeous stuff! LOL.

Their shades are represented by numbers, and I no longer have the boxes of the eyeshadow pans since I already asked the SA to put them in the palette after paying. So sorry, I don't have an idea what specific shades I got.

I've been using these eyeshadows on most days (I just hope my beloved Beauty Pro won't get jealous!) and they are awesome...but they do crease a bit so I make sure I put on primer first. They are pigmented and easy to blend. Minimum fall-outs too! Overall, I am happy with my new eyeshadows. I am looking forward to getting more actually, and this time I'll make sure I'm in a more relaxed mood so I really get to choose my colors wisely. LOL!

I also wish they become available locally.

Their 4-color palette costs Dhs 180, while their 6-color palette costs Dhs 260. I'm not sure how much they cost in the US but I'm pretty sure I got them at a higher price tag, since makeup is a lot more expensive in Dubai.

They have lipsticks, lipglosses, eyeliners, blushes, powders, foundations, concealers, tools and even nail polishes. I swear I can spend one day inside their store. I feel like I'm in makeup heaven! Their SA at their Dubai Mall branch is accommodating too.

Here I put a palette on top of the other...so it saves more space in my makeup kit. How awesome is that, huh!

I call this daytime smokey because I really think you can wear this during the daytime without people staring at you asking themselves "where the hell is the party!?" LOL! To easily transform this to a night time look, all you need is to use black eyeshadow on top of the silver gray. You can leave the inner corner as it is to make your eyes pop. Retouch your liner and probably reapply your mascara, but make sure to brush it against a spoolie first to get rid of clumps or dried out mascara.

Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair: An Update

It's been more than two weeks since I started using the Advance Night Repair from Estee Lauder. So far, I haven't had any breakouts even during my monthly woman-thing. Despite the fact that I still only get 4-5hrs of sleep everyday, I wake up with a refreshed, well-rested look. Here's some pics taken minutes after waking up:

I still have lots of red marks, which have been there since forever LOL! But I love how smoother and softer my skin has become. I also feel like my skin's being stretched, but not the dry-kind of feeling when your skin's being ripped off with moisture. Like I mentioned in my previous posts, I got back with a lot of nasty bumps and breakouts, but with the help of ANR (and of course, some good facial cleaning) my skin's on its way to being better.

Shopping for essentials...

I can't believe it's February already. Before we know it, it'll be Christmas again!

LOL!

It's been weeks since I got back and being a good girl with a promise to cut back on shopping, this is my first time to shop again. But nah, I didn't shop for makeup or clothes (because I'm too big and I'm still hoping I'd lose some inches first) but essentials! I know I call makeup my essentials, but this time, I only bought stuff I REALLY need.

Finally, Dove Hair Therapy Shampoos and Conditioners are now in the Philippines. We've been buying ours from PX stores in Subic...now, no need to take that extra mile!

I've been using Nivea creams since time immemorial. I use them on my neck, knees and elbows. This is the first time i'd be using their Double Effect Shower and Shave cream though. I've been using Gilette shaving gel for a long time but I think it's time to try out other brands. Okay fine, I admit I got sold with its packaging. (Rolls eyes)

Other essentials:

ahhh, it's so expensive being a girl!

I bought this because I realized that I've ran out of Ponds cold cream which I also use at the gym. Good thing I was still waiting for the gym classes to start so I had time to buy stuff first. I panicked when I was told that the cold cream is currently out of stock (was trying to buy at the Galleria)! I had to look for an alternative and I saw this. Wanna know if it's as good, or probably even better? Watch out for my review.

Okay...I got one makeup. Swear, this the only makeup stuff I got. See, I'm being a good girl now. I'm really trying to cut back on makeup shopping this year...to save up on other things. Give me a pat on the back, will you please!?

When i visited their store back in Dubai Mall to check out their makeup and nail polishes, I didn't have plans of getting nail polish for myself. But geesh, this lovely barbie pink polish really caught my attention...and I just couldn't say No.

It looks similar with Revlon's Top Speed in Bubble, but the latter is a tad darker...which I also love.

Product Review: Majolica Majorca Dress Glove Cream...

Applying hand cream every so often is another obsession I seem to have inherited from my mom. I remember the first ever hand cream I used was that of Neutrogena back in college. My hands used to be really dry, even chapped...so I always have a hand cream in my bag for immediate relief. Now that I am way past that bad case of allergy, I still use hand creams and it's actually a staple in my makeup kit.

I've tried a lot of hand creams in the past. Lately, scented hand creams are my favorite. Well, who wouldn't want soft, sweet smelling hands anyway? Besides, you wouldn't know who you'd be able to shake hands with.

it's moisturizing, has a sweet scent and tiny shimmers so your hands (and of course, you!) would surely make a good impression. i love how delicately scented this hand cream is, just perfect to get that nasty "amoy-ulam" off your hands if you have to run off to a meeting right after a meal...or get rid of that cigarette smell quickly before shaking hands with whoever.

priced at Php325 for a 40g tube, this hand cream is still cheaper than the others I've tried.

if i were you, grab yours now before it gets sold out. i think this is just limited, but i sincerely hope this one becomes permanent.

I played with my Inglot eyeshadows in shades of (shimmery) orange and yellow, and apparently, you'll come up with gold if you layer them one after the other (orange first, then yellow). Or am I the last one to figure that out!?

Forgive the eye bags, I haven't had much sleep since last week (what's new!?) and been feeling lousy these past few days. I've been going to the gym again, not just to lose weight but also to help me get a good night sleep...still not working! Looks like my nasty pimples are almost gone...and I'm contemplating of getting a peel done to get rid of the scars.

For now, I'm giving credits to Estee Lauder ANR for helping me fake that (almost) "well-rested" look. Mom definitely is right in recommending this to me. I should've listened to her a long time ago, besides, she's one perfect example of someone who's able to stop the "hands of time."

I've been ignoring this palette for the longest time. I am just so used to my MAC blushes for personal use, just because they are in singles and they fit just right in my makeup kit. Yes, this blush palette is not that big...but I just don't see why I would need to carry all 4 shades of blush so I put this aside and thought of giving this away.

Tender Petal - Pink Kiss - Fresh Plum - Rosewood

I didn't realize that one can actually get away with just having this blush palette in their makeup kits. The color selection is awesome; i love that the first 3 are mostly in shades of pink (which i prefer) and the last one, Rosewood can be used for contouring. Apply with a light hand if you want it sheer, layer it on to build up color. Staying power is pretty good too. And this can be used as eyeshadows too! This palette is definitely useful and versatile...I really wanna kick myself hard for letting this baby collect dust at the bottom of my makeup bin.

This is a part of their Holiday kit last 2010, and is a limited edition palette. I'm not sure if you can buy them separately. If yes, then I would surely get Tender Petal!

Because of this, I am considering checking out my makeup, most especially those that I haven't been using. I might just find another one that's worth a second look.

Our satisfying lunch at Coco's Restaurant...

When I was in Dubai, I didn't really get to eat much Arabic food since Mr. X is not into that in the first place. He isn't as adventurous as I am when it comes to food as well. I didn't mind though, as I'm the type who would eat anything (well, except for liver and okra!) One restaurant that I would surely not forget is Coco's. We went there for lunch before heading off to our Dubai Sand Safari adventure. I love the food and I promised myself that I would go back to check out the rest of their menu.

Here's what we had:

this alone almost made me full. it has the right kind of taste and softness that surely goes well with butter. i think i asked more of this after finishing two pieces. I actually asked Mr. X if we can ask more for our take-away. LOL!

I LOVE CHICKEN WINGS, actually, i love anything chicken! My friends can attest to that. I can finish an entire bucket in one sitting. This one's no exception. It's different from other chicken wings I've tried. I've tasted other chicken wings where the taste only lies on the skin. This one is not! It's so yummy that I can't stop gushing about it during lunch. The wings are small, but i think there's more than a dozen pieces in this serving.

Fish fillet, shrimps and squid, marinated in lemon and pepper, served with vegetables

Another jackpot! We were checking out their menu and since Mr. X can't seem to remember what he had in his previous visit (sign of old age, maybe? LOL) he decided to get this instead. He knows I love seafood too (i told you, I EAT EVERYTHING...well, almost!) I love how this dish is cooked just right, unlike others that are either too raw or too cooked that you can hardly taste the sweetness/freshness of the seafood. Again, this one comes in big serving, but I didn't give up on it...i finished everything, even asked for some dessert after!

We visited their branch in Deira City Center. Most of the food attendants are Filipinos, and we felt at home immediately with their warm smiles and very welcoming gestures. The ambiance is very good, not noisy considering it's lunch time when we went there. I've had some experiences dining in at some restaurants here where the crowd were laughing or talking too loud that I can't even concentrate on my food. This place can be a good place to bring your date, IMHO.

Prices are reasonable, just don't start converting to your local currency. 1Dh is Php12 approx. Good thing I wasn't the one paying, so I didn't really mind. LOL! But yes, the prices are a bit high but for the quality of food and service, it's definitely worth it.

One thing's for sure, I am going back to Coco's the next time I visit Dubai!

Soap & Glory Deep Pore Detox Mask...

I initially wanted to put "Something New" on the title but, this stuff isn't really new...well at least to me (and some of my readers), it is.

When I first see these products from Soap & Glory at Boots back in Dubai, I thought they are from Benefit so I checked them out (yep, I'm a sucker for cute packaging!) So when I realized they're not, I turned my back and walked away...kidding! Hahaha. Seriously, I've spent some time checking out their products. They have skincare and cosmetics, boxed in cute retro pink packaging that made me want to buy everything! LOL.

I didn't buy anything the first time I saw them, but a day before my flight back here, I went up to this mall right in front of our hotel to check Boots for the last time. I honestly wanted to buy a lot, but after realizing that it's awfully more expensive in Dubai, I tried to hold myself back. So I only bought this:

Soap & Glory Deep Pore Detox Mask

The word "Poreclear" got me sold! LOL. I got this for Dhs90, so it's probably Php1000+. I've read online that it's being sold for more or less $15 in the US, so yeah...Dubai is one hell of an expensive place! But it's not locally available, so I don't really regret getting it. Actually, I seriously wanna kick myself for not getting other stuff from this brand. I've only used this once and I love it, I'll post my review soon.

it comes with a free pink smoothing sponge, which got me more excited...shallow me! LOL!

For now, I need to be a good girl so I can ask Mr. X to get me more items from this brand. If he doesn't give in, I could always ask my MIL back in the US to get them for me.

I've been away for two weeks for a vacation, and so did my eye makeup. Yes, I didn't wear eye makeup (except for a liner and mascara on some days) for that long. Not because I've been too lazy or too busy, but because I was wearing sunglasses most of the time (except at night, of course!) It was cold, but the sun's too harsh that I cannot stand not wearing sunglasses during the day. So what's the point? Nobody's gonna see my eye makeup anyway. I must admit, it was hard getting used to seeing my eyes so plain. And yeah, my eyes look terribly sleepy with no makeup on.

Now that I'm back, it's time for EOTDs again. I was scared when I got my hands on my eyeshadow brushes again, for I might've lost my blending skills not being able to put it into practice for weeks. I certainly hope not since I still have upcoming makeup gigs soon. I need to practice, and probably try to learn new techniques. I feel like I'm getting a bit rusty already. I actually want to study makeup again, if only my schedule (and budget) permits.

So here's my first EOTD for this year...I wanted to do something brighter, but I am yet to get back on the groove of doing eye makeup again. So I opted for something simple...trying to conceal any boo-boo just in case it'll be like my first time doing eye makeup.

I've finally got to use my UD 15th Anniversary eyeshadow palette again, which I also missed. I've let go of some of my UD BOS palettes, but I'm not letting go of this one.

my skin's getting better after being clogged for weeks...so excited for summer, since my skin seems to prefer that season. weird, i know.

Product Review: Benefit Stay Don't Stray

When I was on my way to Dubai, I told myself that I have to make sure that I check out their malls because I was told that they have really enormous malls. And geesh, it really is true. Our malls here are no match with the size of their malls there. A day really isn't enough to check out an entire mall. But you know me, there's only one section I'd be interested to check out first...can you take a guess?

The funny thing is, when I should be checking out brands that aren't available locally, I check out those I'm familiar with first. Well, my reason is to compare the prices here. And contrary to what I first thought, makeup are much expensive there. But thanks to Mr. X, I was still able to get a "few" stuff.

First, let me do a review on my favorite eye primer as of the moment:

yes, my dearies...what I got is a tester. Nope, I didn't steal it LOL! I got it as a freebie when I got other Benefit stuff in Debenhams at Ibn Batuta mall. The saleslady's a Filipina and she's just so kind to throw in freebies when I told her I'm a makeup artist back here. And mind you, this tube is still half-full (or more!)

Unlike other primers I have, this one comes with a pump making it more hygienic. Packaging is really cute (of course, it's Benefit!) but what I don't like about it is tends to dispense way too much product. A little goes a long way so you don't really need to pump it on fully. Also, it would be great if we get to see how much product is left.

As you can see, it does really make a difference. It makes the color pop and really does its job of keeping your eyeshadow stay.

I've washed my hands and rubbed the swatches to see whether they would stay. And yes, the one with the Benefit primer underneath passed the ordeal! Thumbs up!

Now, on my eyes:

as you can see I have a bit of discoloration on my lids and on my under eyes. and no matter how much sleep i get, it stays that way. so yes, primers/concealers are my saviors!

I didn't use it on my undereyes. But I will soon and will do a separate review for that. For now, I just used it as an eyeshadow primer and I just love how it neutralizes the discoloration on my lids. You can actually use it alone and you'll have fresh looking eyes even without makeup.

The primer, once well blended on the lids provide a smooth canvas for your eyeshadows so blending is a breeze. Some primers are just too tacky and will give you a hard time blending your eye makeup making it look cakey. There was a little bit of creasing the first time but it was because I didn't make sure my lids are dry first before putting the primer on. So what I did the next time was I didn't put eyecream on my lids anymore (just on the undereyes) and made sure my lids are dry. That did the trick and my eyeshadow stayed the entire time without any creasing.

I love this primer to bits and have been reaching out for it often. I am definitely going to get one after i finish my "free" tube. I am not sure how much this costs here, and I wasn't able to ask how much it's being sold in Dubai but it costs $26 in the US (online store price). I must admit, I didn't bother checking this out at first because I still have a lot of eye primers...good thing the saleslady gave it as a freebie, yeyy!

I love that this comes in a pump. I just found it hard to pump the product out the first time. I had to check if the pump is not working, turned out that the product is just so rich that it takes time to get the product out.

It comes in a thick consistency, more or less the same with other conditioners that I've tried. It has a slight coconut scent, but it doesn't leave you with that coconut oil-like scent that is usually annoying to most people.

What's also great about this product is that it can be used as a conditioner, deep treatment mask, leave-on conditioner and a detangler. I was told that you can use it without shampooing your hair first, but I haven't tried that. I still use a shampoo first before this. The first time I've used it, I found my hair become a bit stiff when I was massaging it on. But it was like my hair totally transformed when I started rinsing my hair. I know your hair's supposed to become smooth and soft when you are rinsing your hair...but this one's has its magic working even after you step out of the bathroom.

I promise I didn't use any straightening iron...I just air-dried my hair using an electric fan. I didn't even put any hair shine or anti-frizz serum...but look how straight my hair is. Well, I do have naturally straight hair to begin with, but I usually have frizzy hair most especially when I didn't get much sleep the night before (which usually happens). But not anymore, thanks to Hair Heroes! The product totally suit its name!

I also used to have split ends but I can hardly find any now. I still see some falling hair, but not as much as before. A colleague even asked if I had my hair blow dried, or if I had it treated. They were surprised when I said No. Also, my hair stays straight and manageable throughout the day. So I recommended this product to them and I am sure they already have their own bottle at this time, LOL!

I had my hair colored and treated more than a month ago and I was thinking of having it treated again in a salon but with Hair Heroes, I don't think I need one soon.

It costs Php499 for a 250ml bottle with a pump. It's more expensive than my usual conditioner but it's totally worth it. It's like having your hair treated, blow dried and styled at the comfort of your own home at a cheaper price than when you get your hair done at a salon.

So, yes I am totally recommending this hair product. I am planning to stock up soon for I'm pretty sure this baby will be selling like hotcakes once a lot of people get to know how good it is. Actually, to say that this product is good is such an under statement. This product is awesome, heaven-sent and surely your hair will be thanking you for giving it some love by using it.

It'll be my birthday months from now and I am turning 33...yes, you've read that right..33! It's not I don't want to get old...it's inevitable. But if only I could look younger as I grow older, that would be great! Who wouldn't want that, anyway!? Besides, it's possible and I know someone who's like that...getting younger looking as the years go by. She calls it a curse, of course she's kidding. To be like that isn't really a curse, but a gift!

Estee Lauder has been a part of my skincare regimen for months now (I'm using their Cyberwhite serum & sunblock) so I know I'll be in good hands. The challenge is to use their most famous product, the Advanced Night Repair, for 4 weeks to prove that after 30 years, it is still the first and the best anti-aging product in the market.

Product Review: MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation

Care for another foundation review? I told you, if there's one makeup stuff that I don't think I'd ever stop buying...that would be foundations. Besides, it's a must for makeup artists like me to have a variety of foundations that I can use on my clients. So yes, I am always in a look out for good foundations. I make sure I try it out first on myself before buying for clients' use. Like what I always say, personal use first!

For today, let me tell you about this another great foundation from MAC. I got this some time ago and never got the chance to review it sooner. I brought this with me somewhere, put it in a bag and then forgot all about it. I didn't use bag again after that and just saw it again when I was rummaging through my closet. Yes, that's just me and my messy stuff (and bad memory!)

MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation

A long-wear foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. Lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage. Even in hot and humid conditions, controls oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. Provides everyday SPF protection.

my shade is NC20

It has a lightweight feel than the MAC SFF foundation but it takes a while to blend. I use a stippling brush to apply it all over my face, sometimes spritzing the brush with MAC Fix+ (or water) to make it easier to blend because it dries up a bit faster.

i love that it comes with a pump!

Before:

you can see there's a lot of redness and pimple scars...so by all means, keep your hands away from your face! stop pricking and let your trusted dermatologist take care of your pimples!

after a layer of foundation:

NC20 looks a bit lighter on me, but I am terribly acidic. It'll match my skin soon, trust me.

With just one layer, it already helped in minimizing the redness on my skin. It also helps in making the pores less visible. I apply another layer on my cheeks or on parts I need more concealing. I use a separate concealer for the undereyes.

After the rest of my makeup routine:

(used Shu Uemura loose finishing powder to set)

Finish is light to medium, but is buildable so it's pretty good to conceal problem areas. It's not flat matte, but not oily...just dewy enough. When applied and blended correctly, it can look pretty natural and the best part? It really is long wearing and transfer resistant too! My t-zone gets oily so I always use blotting sheets and the foundation stays put as long as I "blot" and not actually "rubbing."

Again, it dries up easily so you better be quick in working on it. Better to apply on a freshly moisturized skin for those with drier skins. It tends to emphasize dry areas so moisturizing is a must. I have oily skin but I make sure to moisturize first, let it soak for 2-3 minutes then I apply this.

after 11 hrs:

I didn't experience any allergic reactions and my makeup stayed from 10am until 9pm. Of course there's some fading, but not like when I'm using other foundation. I didn't retouch (just my blush), and just used oil blotting sheets the whole day to take care of the oilies.

I am pretty much liking this foundation. I had a friend buy this for me in the US so it's priced at $29+ (plus tax). I think it's already being sold locally, I'm just not sure how much but probably the same price with SFF or a bit higher?

There's nothing I don't like about it actually. So I might be getting more for my clients. It's really a good long wearing foundation and is good for those who want to have their makeup stay put without opting to go for airbrush makeup.

I would have to say that Revlon never fails to amaze us with drool-worthy stuff which we cannot resist including in our vanity bins. Just days ago I posted about their yummy, candy-like lip butters which I am loving (and so does my mom!) and for today, let me tell you about their latest offering when it comes to beautifying our nails (though I know this isn't so new anymore, 'coz I'm always late, sorry!)

Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel

Revlon Top Speed's patented formula delivers amazingly quick color, with a built-in topcoat that rises to the surface for a glossy, ultra smooth manicure that sets in 60 seconds. The ColorPrecise brush ensures even, smooth, salon quality every time.

Formula's a little thick but it does apply smoothly and takes more than a minute to dry. I can say that the fast-dry polish from another brand dries up faster, but i hate their applicator brush. The brush from these ones are great and with just the right length for smooth and easy application. I also love the opaque finish of some of the shades: Bubble, Emerald and Violet where single coat is already enough. My polish lasts for a good 3-4 days before it would start chipping which I can already consider good, since with other polishes, I'd find the color chipping off in a day or two.

Finish is shiny, so yes, no need for a separate top coat. I've only tried Bubble which stayed on my nails for almost a week and it didn't leave any stains after removing it. I'll check out the other darker shades that I have though.

I visited their kiosk at the 3rd floor of Robinsons Galleria, and I love how accommodating their salesperson there. She definitely knows the products and doesn't pressure you to buying their stuff. I wanted to get all their soaps since I've also been reading a lot of raves about it, but I only have one body and I don't think I'd be able to use all of them at the same time...so yeah, I only got three. LOL. They have a lot of interesting products that I would like to get next time. So this surely isn't my first and last visit.

Product Review: Forever Flawless Erythromycin 2% Solution

I just came from somewhere cold, and based on experience, the cold season causes my skin to get clogged. My skin is just weird like that. It looks like my skin prefers summer season, after all.

Sigh.

And since I don't always have the time to see my dermatologist to give my nasty face bumps a shot, I turn to readily available topical solutions. One of those is a toner which has an antibacterial/anti-inflammatory properties like erythromycin. Don't worry, this is of course recommended by a dermatologist and not something that I just thought of using. Self-medication is a no-no!

Erythromycin 2% Solution from Forever Flawless
(for Mild to Moderate Acne)

I've been using this for months now, but I don't use it everyday...just on days when I have (very) problematic skin or when I feel like pimples would be erupting anytime soon. Erythromycin prevents clogging by removing dead skin cells and deep-seated dirt caused mainly by makeup (in my case).

How I use it:

I pour some solution on a cotton pad and wipe it quickly on my entire face avoiding the eye area. Then I dab the cotton pad on those areas with pimples for like 5 seconds. I use it at night and I wear sunblock with a higher SPF in the morning since this makes the skin more sensitive to the sun.

I used to have erythromycin toner pads from another brand before which also works but is more expensive. Good thing I've found a great alternative at a reasonable price from Flawless.

I got this a few months ago so forgive me if I can't remember how much this costs (sign of old age, LOL!) I'll update this blog post once I get the exact price.

As for my skin, it's getting a lot better now since I started using this again days ago. I'll be visiting my dermatologist this weekend for a facial and hopefully, my skin will be completely okay soon.

Something New: Colorburst Revlon Lip Butters

Oh yes, I'm still alive and kicking dearies! I got back from vacation a few days ago and sorry for the lack of updates for 2 weeks. If you've been following me on Twitter, you'd know that I had a great time at that "far away place." I'll try to post some more pics and probably some reviews on some hotels/restaurants we've been to but for now, let me first tell you bout something that I got recently. I bet these aren't that new to you anymore since they have been in the market for like weeks now (even months in abroad) but I just wanna share my two-cents on my current favorite lipcolor.

As I've mentioned several times before, I'm not such a fan of lipsticks. Despite my face being an oil mine, my lips get a lot drier often, most especially when I wear lipsticks. There are certain brands I stick to though when it comes to lipsticks, but I prefer wearing lip balms more.

I've tried colored lip balms in the past before, but never really found one that would give me the moisture a lip balm provides plus the color that only most lipsticks can give.

I don't actually agree that these are like butters...because unlike butters, these babies aren't greasy. There's some stickiness to it, but not the kind that can be annoying (like that feeling when you get when you eat lechon? LOL!)

they glide on the lips easily and the pigmentation is great. It doesn't last for more than 3hrs on me though, but I really don't mind reapplying...as I know I'm giving my lips some love whenever I use it.

there's a bit of (yummy, candy-like) scent on it that those who are sensitive to scents wouldn't like...but I surely don't mind. hmm, or maybe I should...since it makes want to reach out for it a lot more often.

These have been provided for free (thanks Revlon!) but I am sure to repurchase Lollipop even before I get to finish this tube...and yes, I am definitely visiting Revlon counters to check out their other shades.

My House Husband (Ikaw Na) final presson...

I don't get to watch much Filipino movies nowadays but if there's one movie that I wouldn't dare to miss, it would definitely be My House Husband that has Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo and Eugene Domingo as the main stars.

The movie held its last presscon at Guilly's Island (Tomas Morato) last Dec 17 and despite the bad weather (and terrible traffic!) I'm glad I attended the event.

They just look so good together.
And I love the fact that they started out as friends, eventually fell in love and got married.

Most of the attendees are from the blogging community.

As per Judy Ann, she gets more nervous when surrounded by bloggers during presscons. Unlike people from the press, she said the bloggers ask questions that are more direct to the point.

It was such a fun event. It's informal and I've learned a lot from these real-life couple and of course, from Eugene as well.

For Judy, to be the one to bring home the bacon is okay, as long as the husband will be the one doing the house chores. Of course, it's not the usual setup but nowadays, what's important is that couples respect and help one another and do their parts to make sure that their marriage works.

She also said that it's important to marry the person who's also your friend, because at the end of the day, it helps to just laugh at your mistakes and help you go through rough times.

There was never a boring moment during the presscon, we were all laughing all the time. I didn't know Eugene is really so adorable and funny! She's an inspiration to many...imagine she started out as an extra and just look at her now...this movie is actually just one of the 3 movies in this year's Manila Film Festival.

My House Husband (Ikaw Na) is part of this year's Manila Film Fest and is now showing. I highly recommend this movie as this is one story that happens in real life, and I am sure a lot of couples would be able to relate in one way or another. I'm leaving for a two-week vacation days from now, but I really hope I'd be able to find time to catch this movie before I leave. This is one movie I prefer to see in a movie house...and I know this is gonna be worth it.

I confess that I don't buy perfumes at the mall. I hate being followed by salesmen asking me to try their perfumes. Sometimes I just get too annoyed when they would start blocking my way and say "Ma'am, perfume?" There were also times when I would just turn my back and forget that I need to buy something whenever I would see them starting to go in my direction. It's like being allergic to something, LOL! And I am sure a lot can relate to this.

So for quite some time now, I get my perfumes thru my mom or thru friends who sell them. If I would buy from the mall, I read reviews online first or get suggestions from people as to what perfume is good and then go directly to its counter to buy it. I don't go around sniffing on testers anymore.

When I got an invite to check out a newly opened fragrance bar, I kinda hesitated at first. Again, I hate the thought of being harassed by salespeople asking me to check out their scents. Also, there are fragrance counters that can be too intimidating at times, most especially those high-end ones. I am just glad that I attended the event, for I think I'd be able to finally check out a lot of scents I've been interested on, without those annoying salespeople and being pressured to buy.

A free standing retail concept store that aims to provide an extensive selection of premium imported scents from luxury designer brands to retail favorites, as well as the latest from sports, fashion and entertainment superstars. Their store has a vibrant, hip design which can make your perfume shopping leisurely and fun. It is operated by Scent & Beaute Concepts, Inc. which also owns the luxury fragrance boutique Art of Scent in Newport Mall, Resorts World.

The store is roomy, which makes it easy for people to go around to check different scents. Their signature color blue is just right, totally makes the ambiance fresh, fun and light.

They do have trained staff but they will just assist you when you actually need them. They can surely help you find the right scent for you. Also, no need to worry about your sense of smell getting messed up from sniffing too much..they have coffee beans you can sniff on to help you normalize your smell again.

They have Victoria Secrets and Bath & Body Works products to cater to young people or even to the young-at-heart! They encourage people to start to find their signature scent even at a young age.

On a budget? No worries. The store offers flexible payment schemes, promotions and loyalty programs so you can easily afford your preferred scent and still make sure that you are buying the real deal.

I had a great time checking out different perfumes in the store, without getting nasty stares from staff. They have been so accommodating and helpful when I was trying out different scents from Victoria Secrets. They are also good because they just know what to recommend for any type of scent you want to try.

I still have bottles of perfumes at home so I got some Victoria Secrets and Bath & Body works instead. I am planning to give them to some of my friends as a gift, and hopefully I won't keep them for myself instead.

Product Review: Milani Liquif-eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil

Eversince I learned how to line my peepers, my eye makeup will never be complete without eyeliners. I've recently reviewed my HG gel liner, and gel liners are the ones I preferred to use because they are easy to apply and the color payoff is awesome. But there are times when the space on my makeup kit is so limited for a separate gel liner and brush (just because I prefer using another brush). Good thing there's a great alternative to my HG gel liner that gives the same effect, if not even better!

They did smudge a little (so very little), but still acceptable. Besides, I don't think we'd rub our eyes like that if we know we're wearing eye makeup/liners!

I've rubbed the swatches again and...

so there, once wet and then smudged, it'll finally move. but still, you'll need a makeup remover (in my case, i use my Ponds cold cream) to remover all traces.

what I love:

Application is such a breeze since it smoothly glides on without any tugging of the eye area.
This is the only eye liner that stays on my waterlines.
Color payoff is so awesome, a lot of people thought I'm using a gel eyeliner.
It's cheaper than other eye liners that works the same, Urban Decay 24/7 liners for example.
No itchiness or any sort of allergies on my eye area
the one in shade of Black is the blackest of all black eyeliners I've used

what I hate:

it's so soft, so it's a pain to sharpen. what I do anyway is to put it in the freezer for 5-10minutes before sharpening it and this definitely helps

I just asked Digitaltraincase to reserve another Aqua for me. And I'll be getting another Black soon for I am totally setting aside my UD 24/7 liner in Zero

Give your simple eye makeup an extra Omph! + current favorites

On days that I am running late (which is really becoming more often), I try to veer away from using too much colors for my eyeshadow, to cut my blending effort in half. I usually use a light brown shade for my crease, then a shimmery, almost skin tone shade for my lid.

But to give this look an extra oomph, I'd use a colorful eyeliner together with the (mandatory) black eyeliner:

Whenever I use a colored eyeliner, I'd still use a black eyeliner below it, as close as possible to the lash lines. Well, eyeliners help give an illusion of thick and luscious lashes. And I don't think using other colors aside from the natural color of your lashes would look natural. So black liner topped with your preferred eyeliner shade is the way to go...still looking natural + an extra pop on your eye makeup.

I LOVE Benefit Eye Bright! It's my favorite in my Confessions of Concealaholic kit. It's amazing how it gives me that "awake" look despite always being sleepy...I don't get more than 5hrs of sleep during weekdays, that's why! I am so gonna get this in full size, together with Moon Beam, Hello Flawless! and Benetint. And yes, their store is opening this December 15 at Greenbelt 5!

Another current favorite is the NYX Matte Not Flat powder. It provides coverage while keeping your face matte, that doesn't look dull. The reason? It has tiny shimmers (very tiny) that is just enough to give you a fresh, bright look. Oh, I know it's confusing but I encourage you to check it out and try it. When I first learned from Digitaltraincase that she'll be offering it, the words "Matte, not flat" totally intrigued me and immediately reserved the shade that I think would suit me. Nude is my perfect shade!

It's the beginning of another work week, and I was able to enjoy this weekend (sans having to work on a Sunday, again) since my sister celebrated her debut last Saturday. It was a blast, and I'm such a proud big sister for having a beautiful (and brainy) and awesome little sister...which is not so little anymore, she's taller than me already!

'twas one of our VERY rare office holidays, and after weeks of working almost 7 days a week, I should've been staying at home and savoring this once in a blue moon chance to sit back and relax. It was an informal, but very fun event. We're like little kids playing with toys with all their newly-opened testers. We checked, tested them all to our hearts' content...I think we spent more than an hour checking out what Benefit has to offer. It wasn't my first time to try out Benefit products, as my dear friend Grace sent me a few years ago...but after this event, I am certainly lemming for a number of their products!

Flutter False Eyelashes...

Whenever I'm off to a makeup gig, one of the things I make sure I don't forget to bring are false eyelashes. Most of the clients I've worked with are either scared of getting their lashes curled by an eyelash curler or they just prefer wearing falsies to of course have a more luscious set of lashes.

I've tried a lot of brands already: Ardell, Elise, Faceshop, MAC or even those from Landmark (I'm sure most of our local makeup artists know about this). All of them are good, but well, the cheapest (except those from Landmark) would be P130++/a pair and those from Landmark cost less than Php50/pair. This would be okay if you're on a "paid" makeup gig...but if not, this will cause a dent on your wallet most especially if you'd be working on a number of people. I've tried those that are cheaper than what I get from Landmark but they are not of good quality anymore.

Good thing my search for an affordable, and good quality false eyelashes is finally over...thanks to Flutter False Eyelashes!

sleek, black packaging is such a PLUS!

A box has 10 pairs and what I also love about this is that it's so easy to remove the lashes from the box. Each set of lashes is attached to the box with a pair of small gold stickers. It's easy to detach them, all you have to do is to slightly pull the set of lashes. I've had experiences where the lashes got deformed or some of the hairs got pulled off because it's just so hard to remove them from the packaging.

These lashes are not made of natural hair, but they are comfy to use and another great thing is that you can re-use them. The hairs are not easily deformed, just make sure to remove the dried glue and your lashes are ready to use again.

Best part? A box of 10 pairs costs Php350. So that's Php35 a pair. A LOT cheaper than the other brands I've used before but with its packaging, it surely won't look cheap.

I seriously wish I could get away with wearing bright, colored lipsticks...but nah, I simply cant. I envy those who can just wear red lips and look polished...my face gets all red at some point, that I would look SO made up even with just lipstick. I love this combo...i'd usually pair either shade with black for definition, but this time I decided to combine the two and leave it as it is. It did turn out to be "sweet" and I can totally imagine young ladies wearing this to proms, or night outs.

If there's one makeup product I regret not having known when I was still in school, it would be the eyeliner!

Would you believe I hated wearing eyeshadows, most especially eye liners because I've always thought that my eyes would look so "strong" or "fierce" (in a not so good way) than it already is? So whenever I go to the salon to have my makeup done, I would always say No if it's time to apply the liner. Now that I already know how it helps my eyes look more defined, I don't think I'd survive without eyeliners ever again!

I've started using pencil liners, then I switched to liquid...and some 2-3 years ago, I found that I prefer using gel liners. It's easier to use, no need to worry about sharpening or drying out of the felt tips for some.

My first love was the MAC fluidline...was, because I've found a new love:

pigmentation is great (although I wish the one in brown is more opaque), and it stays put all day. i've had these pots for months already and it's not in any way near to drying out unlike my MAC fluidlines before. they are creamy enough and application is a breeze. I highly recommend this to those who would want to learn using gel liners. it doesn't dry too quickly so you can take your time to line your lash lines perfectly.

it's smudge-proof and waterproof...it really is! let me prove it:

swatches have been rubbed

swatches under running water

swatches have been rubbed while wet

swatches have been dried then rubbed again

at this point, the smudging is a lot more obvious. but I don't think you'd come to a point of rubbing your eyes that much!

to finally remove the liners, I use my favorite and trusted makeup remover...Ponds cold cream!

I've used this on several makeup gigs, and it withstood the heat, some rubbing and even some crying during weddings! It's also a lot cheaper than MAC, this one costs less than Php500 while MAC is Php1000++. I can buy two (or probably 3) for the price of one fluidline!

I am not loving the brush that comes with it since I love using a bent eyeliner brush like that of Charm's. But I've read that it's good too..I might take a second look at it one of these days :)

So yeah, I'm really loving this gel liner from Tonymoly. I'd be getting more colors soon! This definitely tops my list when it comes to gel liners...truly worthy of an HG status!
